A Couple of Viz Cartoons From Way Back.

Although Viz is best known and loved for its juvenile toilet humour, I've always thought a lot of the magazine's social comment (for want of a better term) is far shrewder than it is generally given credit for. Consider these two cartoons, from the newly released CD ROM archive of the first twenty five issues, for example.

Or this one from a more recent edition.

I am certainly with you on this one "the magazine's social comment (for want of a better term) is far shrewder than it is generally given credit for" when Viz is taking the piss out of your high minded idea like Climate Change or Nuclear Free zones you know it's going to vanish up it's own arse given a bit time. Love the CND cartoon the looks on the 2 characters faces are priceless.

Here in Sydney back in the 1980's every lefty in Town was going apeshit trying to stop Australia mining Uranium (The Ore is known as Yellowcake)hilarious things left over from that period are all the signs up around the inner city "Nuclear Free Zone" found around Sydney Univerity with it's Physics Department, Chemistry Department and School of Nuclear Medicine (Oh no Nukes there Sir!).

Down in Annandale (Think Islington with harbour views and better weather)a massive mural dated 1981 and everywhere on it (including a child saying "I need a future")was "Black Ban Yellow Cake". It makes me very optimistic that eventually we can defeat propagandarists like the Climate Change crowd because I swear if I went up to the Primary School about 200 metres from the Mural and asked what is "Yellowcake"? I doubt half a dozen kids could tell me the answer but I'll bet they could tell me Uranium Mining is multi billion dollar industry in Australia's Northern Territory a Industry we would not have had if Leftist Dolts had had their way.
