There's a folder in my iTunes library called 'Guilty Pleasures' where I keep all those cheesy pop songs unbefitting such an unassailably authentic rock 'n' roller as myself. Notables entries include
Oh Babe What Would You Say by Hurricane Smith,
Rhythm of the Night by Corona,
Tarzan Boy by Baltimora,
I'd Rather Jack by The Reynolds Girls and everything Shakatak ever recorded.
This week - and after Radio 1 have been plugging the thing to the max - I've added another:
Fascination by the Danish group
Alphabeat.
The look and sound of the band is so unashamedly Eighties you'd think the video had sprung out of some ancient
Music Box archive. Nevertheless,
Fascination is about as perfect a pop song as you can get and, mark my words, this lot are going to be huge (plus I'm a total sucker for flirty women in footless tights).
